Civic Beautification Projects
The Salisbury Garden Club is active in multiple Civic Beautification Projects.
Through these projects, our volunteers plant and maintain landscapes and gardens throughout our community.
Anniversary Garden
Annual Daffodil Project
SGC volunteers enhance the beauty of our community by annually planting daffodil bulbs at a public location.
Beth Snelling Planter Garden at Midlothian High School
To maintain and enhance the planters and dogwood tree planted in memory of Beth Snelling, a beloved teacher
of biology at Midlothian High School. Students interested in gardening and botany will be encouraged to help with planting at the garden.
Lifelong Learning Institute
In honor of SGC member, Reta Good, SGC volunteers will plant and maintain a garden of bulbs and perennials near the LLI entrance.

Manakin Episcopal Church
In conjunction with a church leaders, SGC volunteers enhance seasonal plantings at the church entrances.
Meals on Wheels
To provide happy cheer during the holiday season to Meals-on-Wheels clients. A group of 30 members participate in creating more than 135 small seasonal bouquets for distribution with the Meals-on-Wheels trays. SGC members provide greenery
from their gardens to supplement
purchased flowers
Midlothian Volunteer Fire Department
To maintain and enhance the borders of daffodils planted in the Fall of 2023. The Fire Station will be decorated for the winter holiday season.
Midlothian Post Office
To maintain the plantings done in
1993 in front of the Midlothian Post
Office. The entry was designed for both evergreen and deciduous
foundation plants that would enhance the traditional colonial style of the building. Each year, flowers are planted for seasonal color and pollinator-friendly plants are incorporated
when possible.
Redeemer Courtyard
SGC volunteers enhance and maintain the courtyard garden at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. The project
chairman works conjunction with the church landscape liaison.
Salisbury Christmas Decorating
SGC volunteers decorate the entrances to the Salisbury neighborhood each December with fresh green wreaths, garlands, bows and lights.
Wishing Well Park
SCG volunteers enhance and maintain the plantings at Wishing Well Park to created a colorful and inviting environment for Salisbury neighbors to enjoy. A special emphasis is made to keep the garden pollinator friendly.
