2022 Garden Tour

May 4th 2022, the Salisbury Garden Club held their Garden Tour, after a two-year delay.  Eight generous gardeners opened their private gardens to approximately 60 club members and their guests.  The Garden Tour incorporated gardens in Salisbury, Old Gun, Rosemont, Founders' Bridge, and Tarrington. Visitors were treated to a wonderful variety of gardens – from an intimate outdoor tearoom near a waterfall, to a woodland of ferns and wildflowers. A koi pond, a pool, garden sculptures, whimsical birdhouses, and bird baths all added interest to the spaces. Each garden supported birds, bees, and butterflies as well as people. Three of the gardens also provided cooling drinks and delicious homemade cookies and snacks. There was plenty of conversation about host plants, plant identification, blooming sequences, hardy perennials, and deer deterrence. All the gardens were full of inspiration for colorful borders of perennials, planters overflowing with annuals, comfortable terraces, and sculptures. The SGC Garden Tour committee presented each gardener with a hand-stenciled steppingstone commemorating the tour, which were proudly displayed in each garden.

After the tour, a small reception was held for the gardeners who generously opened their gardens. These gracious gardeners included perennial SGC members, new SGC members and friends and neighbors of SGC members. SGC is appreciative of those who shared their gardens with others. The SGC Garden Tour Committee worked hard to coordinate all the details that make a great Garden Tour.  Many thanks to our chair, Nancy Clark, and her team: Camille Archie, Lorna Boucher,Kerri Butler, Jean Jordan, Barbara Metz, Meg Winn and the garden greeters at each garden.
